News From Nowhere
Liz: Ok, here are some photos of the first couple of days in London, before setting off on the walk. This is Bobbie in front of St. Monica House, run by nuns who starch their bath towels. Ouch. But so sweet.
Bobbie: Much of the Thames path runs on either side of the banks through London, although we officially started our walk at the source near Kemble. This is a photo of our first sighting of the path signs in London. Mom has a lot of pictures of me pointing at things. Actually, she has a lot of pictures in general.
The Thames River path in London.
Bobbie: we went on the London Eye. It's tall. Very very tall.
Liz: Fifteen of us inside the London Eye pod.
Liz: This is Queen Victoria's favorite bathroom at the Victoria and Albert Museum. (Bobbie: really?)
Bobbie: We visited the Burrough Market so I could find cheese. This is Mom eating the cheese. And yogurt. And scotch egg. By the way, Nacio, I'm a pate eater now.
Bobbie: Speaking of food, we ate Indian food at Brick Lane. Such sweet shops as you've never seen.
Liz: Regent's Canal, the Little Venice of London, and our first sighting of swans. (Bobbie: ask Mom to tell you about the story of the recent news bit about the man who was killed by swans).
Bobbie: Then Mom ran into the Queen on the Millenium Bridge. She looks amazingly like Richard Nixon up close.
That's all for London. We're in the countryside now and will post more later when we find an internet cafe, maybe in Oxford in a few days. The cafes are few and far between out here.
