Everything here looks like this. Or have we already said this? And did we even use this picture when we said it? It's confusing because everything really does look like this after a few pints. (Bobbie: Also, it's the end of the day and we are tired and just want to go back to our hotel room and eat the steak and stilton pie we bought earlier).
The thing that looks like a leech on the breakfast plate is really "HP Sauce" or brown sauce, colloquially. HP stands for Houses of Parliament, not Hewlett Packard, as we originally thought. It's just A-1 but suddenly we want it on everything.
Our English friends Allie and Arnie met us at the "Rose Revived" inn at Newbridge. Hi Allie and Arnie! (Liz: We first met them 20 years ago in a pub over a pie and a pint.)
This is a photo from a couple of days ago when it looked like it was ready to pour but never did.
So, we're back on the trail away from Oxford tomorrow. Incidentally, the name derives from the measure of the height of the river at this point, where it's safe for oxen to ford. In the past when fewer people could read, this naming convention advertised how deep the river was.
Here's a nice section of DRY, MAINTAINED PATH. It's only supposed to get warmer from now on.
OK, I give up. What is Stilton pie.
ReplyDeleteSounds like leftovers from a manufacturing process. Don't force me to Google it.
Stay dry.

Hot dogs in a pie crust?!
ReplyDeleteStilton is CHEESE! it's a blue cheese- I think you have eaten this cheese without realizing it- it's widely available back home. Just imagine gorgonzola and steak wrapped in pie crust, Dad! So. Yum.
